2010-2011 AAA Hoosier Motor Club’s Traffic Safety Poster/Audio Visual Contest

AAA HOOSIER MOTOR CLUB invites your high school to enter the 67th Annual AAA High School Traffic Safety Poster and Audio Visual Contest. As schools like yours across the United States and Canada attest each year, this exciting educational program gives students an opportunity to:

  • Learn the fundamentals of pedestrian, passenger, and motorist safety.
  • Be creative with attention-getting traffic safety slogans and illustrations.
  • Teach others to follow safe practices through effective role modeling.
  • Compete locally for cash awards!

Senior High Poster Guidelines

Under your school’s supervision (including after-school programs), students are to choose their own slogans and design posters based on the theme of “Dangers of Distracted Driving” with a focus on cell phone use or texting while driving.

• Hand-drawn or computer-generated posters may be submitted. Overall size (including mounting) must be no smaller than 8.5” x 11” and no larger than 15” x 22” and may be vertical or horizontal. May be on any type of poster board or heavy board.
• Single cartoon: Overall size (including mounting) must be 15” x 20”.
• Make sure the slogan is spelled correctly.
• Entries must be completed under the supervision of an authorized instructor, youth organization representative, or other responsible adult certifying that it is the student’s own original work.
• Designs may not include copyrighted materials such as comic and/or television characters, photographs, or magazine/newspaper illustrations.
• The name of the student must be spelled correctly and TYPED on the entry form and attached to the bottom left hand side of the poster. This information will be used for gift checks and certificates, and it’s important that names are clear and spelled correctly. Submissions that do not follow these guidelines will not be considered for judging.
• There should be a strong relation of the poster design to traffic safety practices.
• The poster design should be original, with a strong visual impact and supporting message.

Senior High Audiovisual Guidelines

• Video Presentation: Recommended video should be no less than 60 seconds and no more than 2 minutes in length. May be in documentary, drama, music, or public service announcement format.
• Must be in DVD format only (no CD or VHS).
• Brand names/copyright objects (such as clothing or props) or music should be avoided.
• Completed entry form should be attached to the front of the DVD case.

Under your school's supervision (including after-school programs), students are to choose their own slogans and design posters to support the safety themes designated for their grade division. For more details, guidelines and entry forms, download the forms below:
